Isn't it funny how when you are living at home you cannot wait to get out and live on your own and then once you do - all you want to do is go home again?
I went home for a few days last week. It was wonderful.
To spend time with my family and friend (and my cat who I probably missed the most!) was so great. It was much too short of a trip but I am so happy to have been able to go at all.
Dorothy had it right when she said: "There's no place like home."
The highlight of my trip? This baby right here. My brand new 7D. Love. at. first. site. I look quite calm, but only - oh, 2 seconds - before I was jumping around the living room beyond excited. More to come on this new love soon.
Scott and Angel let me test out my new baby on them. I think they make pretty cute models ;)

Trying something new..
... so let me know if you like it and want to see more or if you think I should just stick with photography ;)
This summer I have been making an effort to prepare healthy, easy, quick meals and I thought I would share one of my favourites - homemade pizza pops! I greatly dislike the store bought kind; but, Scott really likes eating them so I had to come up with a compromise. I love how these turned out, they are quite simple and delicious fresh out of the oven or frozen and heated up for a quick meal whenever!
Now, keep in mind, this is not a very technical recipe so just adapt it to what works for you.
Here are the ingredients I started with:
- Pillsbury Pizza Dough (Homemade dough would be great, but I'm not that confident in my cooking abilities!)
- Cheese (I used the pre shredded pizza blend)
- Pizza Pepperoni, sliced
- Pizza Sauce
- Oregano & Parmesan Cheese
Super cute apron on, check.
The worst part of making these is opening the dough can - it scares me every time! Waiting for the *pop* is so awful and always catches me by surprise.
First roll out the dough and cut it into the same-ish sized squares. I got 12 squares.
Then top with pizza sauce, cheese, and whatever pizza toppings you like. I just kept it plain and simple with pepperoni.
Next, fold all the corners in.
And then fold them all in again to close any openings. It doesn't have to be pretty as this is the underside.
Put all the pizza balls on a parchment lined baking sheet. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with oregano and parmesan cheese. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes, or until tops are golden brown.
And, voila! Easy, tasty, healthier than store bought, pizza pops!

Whew!
I can breathe easy again - oh, why haven't I been able to breathe easily these past few days you ask? Let me tell you.
I have been looking into upgrading my camera for a while, my rebel has been a great model for me to learn on and start with but I have been feeling the need for something more. After much research and deliberation, I decided that the Canon 7D was the camera for me.
So, I finally made the plunge. I bought it. Ordered my new baby online last Thursday.
Saturday morning, Scott and I were talking about how we would get our wedding invites out if Canada Post went on strike. It was then I had one of those moments from a movie - loud gasp, followed by hand rushing up to my mouth, followed by a sorrowful 'ohhh nooo' - I realize that my precious camera was being shipped through Canada Post and it could possibly get tangled up with all this strike business! And it needed to be waiting for me in Lethbridge when we visit in a couple weeks. Commence freak out.
Today my mom sent me the best message - 'packaged arrived for you today!' - whew, I can breathe again.
Doing a happy dance right now!!

Backyard Beauty
Yesterday I went for a bike ride, the weather was so beautiful and the sun was starting to set and the light was wonderful so I decided to bring my camera along. I love how it is finally starting to feel like summer just might come this year.
Surprisingly, it wasn't the mosquitos that bothered me last night - it was these little green guys hanging from all the trees! I came home covered in them!!

Wildly Curious
I love when I read something - in a book, magazine, blog - that states exactly how I feel. Only the author says it way better. This happened the other day and I didn't even realize I felt this way until I read what she wrote! From 'The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society' was this line:
"Not being silent myself, I am wildly curious about people who are."
I love it! I truly could have not said it better myself. This mainly applies to Scott and I, as he is much quieter than I am which makes me ''wildly curious'' about what he is thinking. This is why he is constantly bombarded with the question - what are you thinking?
