The best word...

... I can think of to describe Scott & I right now is 'nomadic'. Which the dictionary defines as:

"noun
a member of a people having no permanent abode, and who travel from place to place to find fresh pasture for their livestock.
• a person who does not stay long in the same place; a wanderer."

I think it fits us pretty well - except for the livestock bit ;) Wanderer? Yeah, that's us.

Today, we are moving. Again. This will be our furthest move yet - all the way down to Mesa, Arizona. To stay for 3 months as we chase the dream of Scott playing professional golf on a larger scale. Don't worry - I'll be busy taking photo's and blogging about our adventures to keep everyone informed!

We don't really know what this next chapter of life holds for us; but, we are excited to find out. And yes, we know we're a little lotta bit crazy.

A couple quotes I think fit my feelings about this trip...

Wish us luck!

2011.

I feel that I have grown and learned so much about photography this year. I challenged myself to blog and share more of myself and I have been blown away by the response. I spent more time getting to know my camera and I can see my photo's improving each and every time I take my camera out. I still have a long way to go and I am so excited to keep working and learning this coming year!

Here are some of my favourite photo's from this past year!

Real or Fake?

As Scott & I approach our first Christmas together as a married couple I've been thinking lately about how we will incorporate each of our families traditions into the holidays and what traditions we will create of our own.

Stockings, cookies, turkey dinner, trees.

Ah, trees. Which always begs the question:

Real or Fake?

Photobucket

I think real is the way to go. Scott insists fake.

Photobucket

Thankfully, we don't have a house - or a tree - of our own this year. So the decision can be pushed back at least another year. Phew!

Whichever type of tree you choose - as my friend the Christmas Moose says - Happy Holidays!

Advantages of Disagreeing.

Sometimes, disagreeing can be a good thing.

Take, for example, the fact that Scott thinks the top of bagels are the better half. He is clearly wrong. Obviously, the bottom half of a bagel is far superior.

Instead of letting this difference of opinion come between us we have found out about the advantages of disagreeing.

When we both have bagels for breakfast - he gets two tops and I get two bottoms.

And that, my friends, is what they call win - win.

Photo Booth

One of the first wedding related decisions Scott and I made was to have a photo booth at our reception. I couldn't be more happy with our decision! Shannon Pratt Photography provided a great photo booth and our guests got to take home a little keepsake from the night. And, we got ALL the photo's on a disc - so funny to look through all the photo's our guests took!

Our first trip into the booth together was an epic fail! We just could not figure it out!

Photobucket

Thankfully, with a little help from our friends and family we had a bit more success. If you can call any of those faces we're making 'successful'!

So much fun!

Kitchen Fun: Banana Bread

Scott & I didn't register for wedding gifts because we don't really have a house. We move. A lot.

But; thankfully, one of Scott's Aunt & Uncle got us a house gift anyways. A kitchen gift. One I've wanted for a long time now.

Cue: Clouds parting, angel's singing on high, golden light....enter stage left - KITCHENAID MIXER!!! Ahhhhhhhhhh!

Photobucket

Too much? Okay, a quick little hug for my most amazing new stand mixer and moving on.

Photobucket

I decided to christen my new mixer with a recipe I usually ask my mom to make for me.

Banana Bread.

One of my personal favourites, but one I have been too timid to try. Until now that is - with my glorious new mixer by my side!

Photobucket

You will need:

A Better Homes & Garden 'New' Cook Book, circa 1980. And yes, my mom received it brand new.

1/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup mashed ripe banana (the more black the better, says my mom)

Cream together shortening and sugar. Then add eggs and beat well. Oh, does the Kitchenaid ever beat well.

Photobucket

Sift, if you are sifting type of person, dry ingredients. And yes, my mom's sifter is also circa 1980 - maybe even earlier. Then, add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with banana.

Photobucket

Pour into well greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes. Admire your adorably cute apron and then do the ol' knife-in-the-middle comes-out-clean-then-you-know-its-done-trick.

Photobucket

And voila! Golden banana bread! Let cool and enjoy!

Photobucket

I'm impressed with myself that it actually turned out great for my first attempt at banana bread. It must have been the mixer ;)

Backyard Beauty: Lethbridge

Living away from Lethbridge for the past couple summers has made me appreciate the unique beauty it has. The coulee's, the train bridge, the prairie grass, the wind. Okay, maybe not the wind.

Lethbridge really is quite beautiful though. So, I thought that I would share a little bit of my hometown with you!

I never really liked Lethbridge until I moved away - now, it's not so bad ;)

Good To Be Home.

We had the best time on our honeymoon. Beach, sun, ocean.

What's not to love?

My favourite part of our whole trip through - seeing that little white gold band on his finger. Letting everyone know that this man - this handsome, tall, slightly sunburnt man - is my husband.

What's not to love?

Photobucket

There will be more photo's to come from our trip to Dominican Republic. And I'll start blogging about something other than my super cute hubby and our wedding. Sometime. Maybe ;)

A Perfect Day.

I don't know if a perfect day really does exist; but, I think I experienced the closest I've ever been to one this past Saturday.

Our wedding was amazing.

Everything worked out in perfect harmony - the details, the ceremony, the tears, the love, the food, the speeches, the party. I couldn't have asked for a better day.

The underlying reason our day was so amazing though? Our family and friends. The outpouring of love and support was overwhelming. I thought my heart might burst with happiness.

It was the perfect day.

Photobucket
*Thanks Cairo for putting pictures up on Facebook so quick so I could grab one to use!*

I am not sad that it's over - I am so unbelievably happy our marriage has begun.

Today.

Today.

Is finally here.

The day I have waited so long for, the day I become his wife. My heart is so full and I am so immeasurably thankful.

Thankful that I found the man who loves me more than anyone else ever could. Who I love more than I thought it was possible to love.

Who lets me snuggle in too close on the couch and gives me the hundreds of hugs and kisses I seem to need to make it through the day.

Who holds me when I'm sad and knows how to make me laugh until I cry.

Who grounds me, supports me. Who puts my soul at ease by simply walking into the room.

Who, now, I couldn't live without.

But; most of all, I am so thankful that today is only the beginning.

That I get to love him more and more each day for the rest of my life.

A photo from when our love was brand new. Who knew it would take us this far. Who knows where it will us next.

Today. Is finally here.

The Minor Family

Just a quick little post today for a quick little photo shoot of my favourite family. Also, probably my most photographed family. Check them out here, here, here, or even here. And that doesn't even include photo's I've never posted!

This is such a wonderful family that I am so blessed to have in my life.

Apparently, I have a thing for playgrounds lately. It just works with little kiddo's though!
