I feel crafty.

The family I was living with as an au pair in Spain for a few months in 2009 had the most beautiful rose bush in their garden. Before I left, I made sure to cut a few roses to bring home with me.

I put them in between the pages of a book to dry, came home, and forgot all about them.

It was a lovely surprise to open that book a little while ago and be greeted with these pretty, perfectly preserved, flowers. I knew that I needed to do something with them before I forgot about them again and they crumbled into decay!

Enter, one of the easiest DIY's I've ever done.

All you need is: dried flowers, scrapbook paper (I used canvas paper to give it a little extra texture), and a picture frame.

Cut the paper to fit and then place the flower and paper in frame.

Repeat 6 times - or however many flowers you have.

And....VOILA! I am in love.

Now, only to find a place on our walls to hang them!!

Silly Faces.

He knew I was in need of cheering up.

I know he doesn't always have the right words to say.

So, instead, he cheers me up in ways only he can. As I was laying on his chest, he told me to grab my phone so we could take a picture for me to instagram. Then he proceeded to come up with all the silly faces he could think of.

He knows how to make me laugh. He knows how to distract me. He knows what I need.

He knows exactly how to cheer me up - without any words at all.

Married: Michael & Heather

This is a wedding I second shoot with Modern Pixel Photography.

I usually start with the groom when I'm second shooting - and without fail, every single groom lights up when they lay eyes on their beautiful bride. Michael was no exception. These two's first look was a perfect start to an amazing day - filled with and focused on their wonderful love. It was an honour to help capture this incredibly kind and genuine couple's wedding day.

Family Holiday 2012. Part 1.

This year, I was able to join my family for a trip to Victoria. A city that I love, a lot. It's eclectic charm, the waterfront, the sailboats, all the Starbucks - it's my kind of city.

It was a jammed packed few days - we definitely made the most of our time there. From exploring the harbour, to taking a ferry to Salt Spring Island, to kayaking, to an adventure to find Chinese Food, to almost dying on the hardest hike ever, to mini golf, we had an amazing time.

I did take my dSLR with me; but, I found I didn't use it very often. I was more interested in really enjoying the time with my entire family, it's pretty rare for us all to be together, so that meant that most of my photo's from the trip were taken with my iphone.

A glimpse into our family holiday...iphone edition.

Slipping Through...

Today is August 8.

I am a little shocked about that. How can it possibly be a full week into August already? I feel like it should only be May 1 or something. Where has all the time gone?!

Wasn't it only yesterday that we were leaving to move to Phoenix? It can't have been 4 whole month's that we've been in Carman, can it? Only a few more months until we pack up again? I am always counting the time until we leave, how long we stay, when we come back to somewhere from somewhere else. And so far, this summer has just flown by...way too fast.

It seems that the tighter I try to hold on to time - the quicker it slips through my fingers.

This feeling I'm having right now, of time moving much too quickly, pushes me to make the most of what we've been given. To enjoy every day, every moment. Because; before we know it, weeks and years will have gone by in what feels like an instant. I don't want to blink - and miss it.

Married: Cory & Nikki

This is a wedding I second shot with Modern Pixel Photography a couple weeks ago.

I started with the guys while they were getting ready and I could just tell that Cory was both nervous and excited for the day ahead - to finally make Nikki his wife. The look on his face when she began her walk down the aisle? It was a look that said the wait was worth it, after 10 years together, it was was worth every minute to see his bride walking toward him.

Their love spoke louder than the couple that day, Nikki is that beautiful kind of shy, and I don't think Cory peeled his eyes off of her the rest of the wedding. It was visible, their love, in the looks and grins and laughter and it was so incredibly beautiful to witness.

I was honoured to help document their day.

It was easy to see why Cory lost it a little when he saw Nikki - she has a classic and elegant beauty that is undeniable. Just gorgeous.
